You don’t need to lift – 10 effective ways to get fit without weights!
Working out in the gym can be intimidating at the best of times and for many people just the sight of all those weights and machines might scare them away immediately. Luckily you don’t need to rely on all that equipment or invest in some for your home, in order to get a great workout. By using only your body and your home or work space you can supplement your training, warm-up, or get all your activity from these exercises. There is no excuse not to keep moving and better still, these exercises are super easy to do.
#1 Burpees and blurpees
Nope, that isn’t a typo. You might’ve heard of the dreaded burpee but it also has a devilish variant.
Push-ups are hard work but brilliant for your chest and arms. You can ease things up a bit by doing them on your knees if needed.
#3 Leg Lifts
This is easy to do in the gym or at home the exercise involves raising your straight legs in front of you for as many reps as possible.
We admit, an absolute killer, but it does wonders for your abdomen. Don’t fret if you can’t lift your head to start with. Start off easy and you’ll build up your flexibility and strength.
This is the one for achieving a great bum. Total newbies can start by just sitting and then standing up from a regular chair. In time though you’ll be able to introduce weights to the routine.
Be it alone in your room or with a partner or class, getting up and dancing is amazing for your heart and obviously a ton of fun. Throw on your fave music to cap it all off!
#7 Jog on the Spot
If you can’t find the time to go for a run, you can still raise your heart rate while watching your favorite television shows or listening to music. Good shoes are key to avoid injury.
#8 Step Exercises
Most of us have access to steps at home, in work, or outside, so kiss goodbye to lifts and walk/run/jump up and down a few flights or even just a few steps. Just be careful!
#9 Jumping Jacks
Don’t let anyone tell you jumping jacks are just for kids. Ideal as a warm up or your main exercise, jumping jacks are fun as well as great cardio exercise.
Walk to work, walk in the park, walk home, walk to the shops, walk to your mate’s house, walk, walk, walk. Walking is easy exercise that we can all do with more of.
